A differently-abled man has been arrested by Uttar Pradesh police in connection with the death of his sister, who was preparing for the IAS examination. The incident occurred on August 31 in Aliyapur village, Hardoi district, under the jurisdiction of the Pali police station. The accused is alleged to have murdered his sister, Manvi Mishra, in collaboration with their mother, who has also been taken into custody. Authorities are investigating the case as a possible honour killing. Initially, both suspects attempted to mislead investigators by suggesting the death was a suicide. However, a forensic examination raised suspicions due to the positioning of the firearm – found in her right hand with the bullet wound on the left side of her head. A senior police officer indicated that the family was displeased with Manvi’s marriage, as she had married against their wishes. The marriage took place at an Arya Samaj temple in Bareilly to a school principal. The accused later confessed to the crime.
