Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan have both impressed fans with their films, and their on-screen pairing has been well-received. While there are many anecdotes circulating about both stars, they are currently working on their respective major projects. Shah Rukh Khan is focused on ‘King’, along with his children’s careers. Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra is also making a comeback in Indian cinema and is busy shooting for Rajamouli’s SSMB29. In the midst of this, what move has Priyanka made concerning the story of a shelved Shah Rukh Khan film?
Information recently surfaced on a news website regarding Priyanka’s upcoming project. According to the report, the actress has initiated a project under her banner, Purple Pebble Pictures. It is an Indian-Swedish project. She has joined ‘The Cycle of Love’ as an executive producer. But what is its connection to Shah Rukh Khan’s film?
Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra’s involvement with her production house’s project is generating buzz due to its association with Shah Rukh Khan. The film’s connection lies with the long-shelved Bollywood picture ‘Izhaar.’ Sanjay Leela Bhansali was planning to make a feature film based on this story in 2013. Shah Rukh Khan was to play PK Mahanandia, an Indian with a handful of paintbrushes and a second-hand Raleigh bicycle. He would embark on a journey across Asia and Europe to find his lover.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali had worked on another film with Shah Rukh Khan in collaboration with Warner Bros., after first coming together for ‘Devdas.’ However, the film was quietly shelved without explanation.
In 2019, the project resurfaced when it was revealed that Bhansali had decided to shelve ‘Inshallah’ and work on ‘Izhaar’. However, these rumors proved to be false.
‘The Cycle of Love’ is a documentary that will depict the love story of PK Mahanandia, a street artist from Delhi who cycled 6,000 miles in 1977 to meet his lover. The documentary is being directed by Orlando von Einsiedel, whose documentary on the Syrian War, ‘The White Helmets,’ won an Oscar in 2017.
