Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, is on a two-day visit to Bangladesh, a trip considered highly significant due to the upcoming general elections in the country. This visit comes amidst a shifting political landscape, with Pakistan seemingly aiming to strengthen ties with factions opposed to the current government. Dar’s meetings with key figures from the Bangladesh National Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party (NCP) signal a strategic move to influence the political climate. The visit includes a meeting with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam and other party leaders at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka. The BNP delegation included prominent figures such as Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Selima Rahman. Discussions reportedly centered on bilateral relations between the two countries. In addition to these meetings, Dar is also scheduled to meet with former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. Dar’s arrival in Dhaka was marked by a warm welcome from Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary, Asad Alam Siam, at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
