The festive season is just around the corner, and automakers are gearing up to capitalize on it with their new product lineups in the coming months. Maruti Suzuki and Renault India are set to launch a new mid-size SUV and an updated Kiger on September 3rd and August 24th, 2025, respectively.
These models will be entering different SUV categories and will hold significance in their respective segments. The upcoming Maruti SUV (Maruti Escudo) will feature several first-time features for a Maruti car in India, while the updated Kiger will be one of the most affordable subcompact SUVs available in the country. Let’s take a look at what these cars have to offer.
Renault Kiger Facelift
The Renault Kiger subcompact SUV is expected to receive a mid-life update soon. Official teasers suggest that the updated model will have C-shaped taillamps, a sporty rear bumper, and a shark fin antenna. According to media reports, the 2025 Renault Kiger will undergo significant changes, including a front fascia featuring a new grille with Renault’s new logo. Some minor cabin upgrades are also expected.
The Renault Kiger facelift will retain the existing 1.0-liter naturally aspirated and 1.0-liter turbo petrol engines, generating 72PS and 100PS of power, respectively. It will be available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. A CNG kit will also be offered as a retrofit.
Maruti Escudo
Maruti Suzuki has not officially disclosed the name and details of this upcoming model set to hit showrooms on September 3, 2025. However, this new Maruti SUV is known as the Maruti Escudo. This mid-size SUV will feature Dolby Atmos audio technology and Level-2 ADAS. It will also be equipped with a 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) system in its segment.
Maruti Escudo Based on Grand Vitara
Its powertrain, platform, features, and design elements will be the same as the Grand Vitara. This means it will come in three engine options – 1.5-liter petrol, 1.5-liter strong hybrid, and a CNG. Some minor cosmetic changes are expected. According to media reports, the Escudo will be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara and will have more boot space.
