Following his re-election, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to develop a defense system mirroring Israel’s Iron Dome, naming it the Golden Dome. Details have emerged, revealing the Golden Dome’s design. According to reports, the Golden Dome missile defense system is planned as a four-layered structure, with one layer in space and three on the ground. It will incorporate 11 short-range missile batteries deployed across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. This information stems from a presentation to 3,000 defense contractors in Alabama, revealing the project’s complexity and the aim to complete it by 2028, a deadline set by the former President. The estimated cost is approximately $175 billion, though the specifics of launchers, interceptors, ground stations, and missile sites are still being finalized. Congress has allocated $25 billion through a bill passed in July, with an additional $45.3 billion earmarked in the 2026 budget.
