The upcoming Asia Cup is approaching, and fitness tests are underway for players vying to represent India in the multi-national tournament. A crucial question looms: Will the players’ fitness allow them to compete? Are they fully prepared for the cricketing battle to become the kings of Asia? This report brings updates on Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Hardik Pandya’s fitness test results are expected within the next 48 hours, with the 11th and 12th of August being crucial dates. Pandya has already arrived at the NCA in Bengaluru for the test, a fact he shared on social media.
Shreyas Iyer has reportedly passed his fitness test, conducted between July 27th and 29th. Iyer last played a T20 International in 2023, and there are hopes for his return to the Asia Cup squad. The middle-order batsman has boosted his chances with consistent performances in domestic tournaments and the IPL.
An update on India’s T20 captain, Suryakumar Yadav, indicates he is not fully fit and requires another week for recovery. He will remain under the supervision of the physio and medical staff at the NCA. Yadav underwent a hernia operation in early June.
The Asia Cup begins on September 9th in the UAE. The Indian team is expected to be announced soon for the 21-day tournament.
