Indian Test team captain Shubman Gill’s jersey from the recent five-match series against England was sold for a staggering 5.41 lakh rupees (approximately $6,500 USD) at an online charity auction. Gill was the highest run-scorer in the series, batting at number four and amassing 754 runs at an impressive average of 75.40. The auction, which ran from July 10th to July 27th, was held to raise funds for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, an organization supporting families facing financial hardship due to a member’s long-term illness. The foundation, started by former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss, honors his late wife Ruth, who passed away from cancer in 2018. The auction featured jerseys from both Indian and English players, with Gill’s fetching the highest price.
