A controversy surrounding residential certificates in Bihar continues to make headlines, with a recent incident leaving officials bewildered. Fraudulent attempts to obtain certificates through deceptive means are consistently surfacing. In a startling turn of events, fraudsters attempted to secure a residential certificate using the name and photograph of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself. An FIR has been filed against an unknown individual in the Saraiya police station area of Muzaffarpur in connection with this case. Revenue Officer Abhishek Singh lodged the complaint, stating that the act was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the Chief Minister’s image and undermine the administrative system. The fraudulent application, submitted online on July 29th, requested a residential certificate in the name of CM Nitish Kumar, bearing the application number BRCCO/2025/6940816. The applicant’s photo was replaced with a picture of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Verification revealed the application’s fraudulent nature.
