The youth of Jashpur district in Chhattisgarh will now have the opportunity to build their careers through the NCC Air Squadron. Following the efforts of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the PMSHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in the district has received approval to start an NCC Air Squadron, which will be the 3 CG NCC Air Squadron of Chhattisgarh. This is a historic achievement for the district, promising to elevate the future of local youth.
The Chief Minister initiated the registration by awarding NCC cadets’ badges to 25 meritorious students selected for the Air NCC, wishing them a bright future. The group includes 13 girls and 12 boys. Wing Commander Vivek Kumar Sahu presented a memento to the Chief Minister during the event. Also present were MLA Gomti Sai, MLA Raymuni Bhagat, District Panchayat President Salik Sai, Municipal President Arvind Bhagat, Vice President Yash Pratap Singh Judeo, District Panchayat Vice President Shaurya Pratap Singh Judeo, along with other public representatives, officers, and employees.
Chief Minister Sai had expressed his desire to start air squadrons in other cities with air strips during the last NCC Day celebrations, similar to Raipur. Currently, only Raipur offers air NCC and flight training in Chhattisgarh, but locations such as Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, and Jashpur also have air strip facilities.
Following this initiative, in March, Jashpur’s Agdih airstrip was approved for the 3 CG Air NCC Squadron, and a microlight aircraft was sent to Jashpur for training. Around 100 cadets received practical flight experience. Chief Minister Sai visited the airstrip, inspected the training program, and interacted with the cadets. The cadets also shared technical information related to the aircraft with him.
Currently, the 3 CG Air NCC Air Squadron is the only air squadron in the country with MBBS, AIIMS, and nursing students as cadets. Cadets receive opportunities for 25 vacancies/courses in the army through UPSC and SSB interviews, and 50 vacancies/courses for the Officers Training Academy through SSC, which does not require a UPSC exam and provides selection opportunities only through SSB interviews. Twenty seats are reserved for girls. There are 10 percent vacancies in all courses, including air force flight training courses, which do not require AFACT or UPSC exams. Similarly, 2 to 10 bonus marks are given in paramilitary force recruitment. Many industries also give preference to jobs based on the NCC C certificate.
