Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has sanctioned three significant road projects aimed at streamlining and modernizing the traffic infrastructure in Ranchi and other major cities across Jharkhand. The detailed presentations of these projects were given by Principal Secretary of the Road Construction Department, Sunil Kumar, before the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister directed the immediate preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) to expedite the implementation of these projects. He also instructed officials to ensure measures for traffic improvement in other prominent cities.
The approved projects include:
* **Argora Chowk-Kathal Mor-Chapu Toli Elevated Flyover:** This flyover will be 1.75 kilometers long, with a width of 10 meters for the flyover and 7 meters for the road below. It will include drainage and utility ducts on both sides, along with beautification of the road beneath. The flyover will be fully illuminated and equipped with noise barriers. This project will alleviate traffic congestion from Argora to Chapu Toli, ensuring smoother traffic flow.
* **Karamtoli-Morabadi-Science City Flyover and Four-Lane Road to Ring Road:** The flyover will be 2.2 kilometers long (from Karamtoli Chowk to Science City) with a width of 10 meters. The four-lane road will extend over 5 kilometers from Science City to Ring Road. This will help reduce traffic jams on busy routes in the capital and expedite travel.
* **Alternative Four-Lane Road from Ranchi Railway Station to Airport:** This will include a 4.7-kilometer-long road with an 800-meter-long elevated section. It will feature footpaths, covered cycle tracks, solar panels to illuminate the road, a greenfield corridor, gazebos, seating benches, and basic amenities. This will provide a high-speed alternative route to the airport, ensuring quick and convenient access for people from Hatia, Doranda, Hinoo, and the HEC area to the Ranchi Railway Station.
The Chief Minister also considered other proposals, such as a flyover from Harmu Mukti Dham to Radisson Blu and a flyover on the Swarnarekha River from Hinoo Bridge to Jagannathpur. He directed that traffic improvement plans should be developed for Jamshedpur, Daltonganj, and other cities, similar to those planned for Ranchi.
* **Jamshedpur-Sakchi City Flyover Project:** A 2.54 km-long flyover will help alleviate traffic congestion.
* **Daltonganj-Garhwa Alternative Corridor:** A circular elevated corridor connecting all four directions, helping to balance traffic.
Improvements at NHAI transition points: Emphasis on safety and junction improvements at places like Ramgarh, Daltonganj, and Barkakana.
These projects are expected to not only reduce traffic congestion but also boost local employment, investment, and industrial activities. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for timely implementation and regular reviews, stating that these initiatives are a crucial step toward making Jharkhand a modern and developed state.
