The Indian Army has initiated ‘Operation SHIVA 2025’ to ensure a secure and coordinated Shri Amarnath Yatra. This annual security operation, enhanced this year due to heightened threats from Pakistan-sponsored proxy groups, focuses on establishing a robust security framework along both northern and southern routes. Over 8,500 troops are deployed with extensive technical and operational support, including a multi-layered counter-terrorism grid, preventive security measures, and enhanced protection corridors. The operation incorporates a dedicated counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) with over 50 systems to neutralize drone threats. Engineering teams are handling infrastructure improvements, while medical support includes extensive facilities and staff. Emergency provisions and rapid response teams are also in place, with Army helicopters on standby for immediate contingencies. Reconnaissance applications, such as high-resolution cameras and drone feeds, are utilized to monitor Yatra movements, ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage for devotees.
