Grand Ayatollah Nasir Makarim Shirazi, a prominent Shia religious leader in Iran, has issued a fatwa against former US President Donald Trump and former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, labeling them as ‘enemies of God.’ This fatwa calls upon the Muslim community to take strict action against them. Concurrently, Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamdani issued a similar fatwa, stating that anyone threatening Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would also be considered an enemy of God. This follows reports of growing anger among Shia religious leaders regarding perceived threats against Khamenei. In response to the escalating tensions, Khamenei, currently residing in a secure bunker with his family, has warned the US and Israel against further attacks on Iranian nuclear bases, threatening retaliation against American military bases in the Middle East. Khamenei has also urged citizens to celebrate the ‘victory’ over Israel.
Donald Trump responded to Khamenei’s threats, calling him ‘ungrateful’ and warning that any renewed efforts by Iran to develop nuclear weapons would be met with intensified attacks. Trump stated that the US and Israel are aware of Khamenei’s location and have previously spared his life. The recent conflict between Iran and Israel lasted for 12 days, marked by missile and drone attacks following an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities. The US intervened on the 11th day, bombing and destroying Iranian nuclear centers, ultimately brokering a ceasefire through Qatar. Despite the ceasefire, tensions remain high, with bitter rhetoric continuing between Iran and the US.
