Tata Sons, under the leadership of Chairman N Chandrasekaran, has announced ₹1 crore in ex-gratia to the families of each individual who lost their lives in the Air India Flight 171 tragedy. The company has also pledged to cover the medical expenses of the injured and ensure they receive all necessary care. The crash, involving a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, occurred shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The flight, destined for Gatwick, London, carried 242 people, including 12 crew members. The aircraft, under the command of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, crashed into a doctors’ hostel near the airport perimeter. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, offering condolences and assuring assistance to those affected. The aircraft, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC), made a Mayday call before losing contact with ATC.
