Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Abu Dhabi, UAE on June 10th. The visit followed up on the 15th Joint Commission Meeting between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held in New Delhi on December 13, 2024. During the visit, Misri met with Reem Al Hashim, Minister of State for International Cooperation, to review the comprehensive strategic partnership. Discussions centered on expanding the partnership across trade, investments, energy, culture, defense, technology, and consular matters. Both sides pledged to collaborate in multilateral forums to advance mutual interests. Misri expressed appreciation for the UAE leadership’s support after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. He also met with Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Co-existence, and thanked him for the care provided to the 4.3 million Indian residents in the UAE. Furthermore, Misri held a productive meeting with Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee, to reaffirm the countries’ commitment to combating terrorism. The visit underscored the ongoing high-level exchanges and the deepening strategic partnership.
