So far in Kanker district, more than 70 thousand farmers have sold their paddy on support price. So far, more than 27 lakh quintals of paddy have been purchased from farmers. Now there are four days left for the purchase of paddy at the support price. At the same time, paddy is yet to be purchased from more than 11 thousand registered farmers in the district. Paddy is jammed due to lack of transportation in many procurement centers. Elsewhere the problem of committees has increased due to the slow pace of lifting.
January 31 is the last date fixed by the state government for purchasing paddy at the support price. There are 81,806 registered farmers in the district, out of which 27,34,593 quintal paddy has been purchased so far from 70,216 farmers on support price. There are 66,060 farmers who have sold paddy only once and 4,156 farmers who have taken their paddy to the procurement center more than once.
