Australia fined for slow over rate, cut test championship points

Australia is hit by a triple in the second Boxing Day Test match against India. Australia lost the Test by eight wickets and were fined 40 per cent of match fees due to the slow over rate and also lost four points in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Championship rankings table.

Australia now have 322 points after losing four points. According to ICC rules, for every slow over in the stipulated time, he will be deducted two points in the rankings and 20 per cent match fees will be deducted as penalty. It is noteworthy that earlier this year, South Africa became the first team to lose points in the ICC World Test Championship rankings for the same reason.
