With the war footing efforts of the state government to prevent and combat the spread of corona virus in the state, the convenience of the general public is placed at the highest priority. On the special initiative by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, many welfare schemes and decisions have been implemented for the convenience of the general public. These decisions will provide a big relief to the general public of the state including the poor, school children, common citizens and business class during the period of lock-down till 31st March.
The welfare steps taken by the Chhattisgarh government are as follows:
1- The state government has decided to distribute lump sum rice in the month of April and May 2020 to the ration card holders of the public distribution system. For this, instructions have been issued by the Food Department to allotment of Antyodaya, priority and Annapurna category ration card holders in the month of April and May 2020, as well as lump sum distribution of salt and sugar in the month of April 2020.
2- On the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, it has been decided to give mid-day meals to school children during the holiday period. Under this scheme, 40 days dry dal and rice will be supplied to the children of the school. Each and every student of primary school will be given 4 kg of rice and 800 grams of dal and 6 kg of rice and 1200 grams of dal will be distributed to each student of higher secondary school.
3-Instructions have been given for distribution of take home ration to the children of 3-Anganwadi center. All Anganwadi and Mini Anganwadi centers have been closed till 31st March 2020. The state government has given 750 grams of take home ration (ready to eat) for normal, moderate and severely malnourished children between the age of 03 to 06 years as an alternative arrangement in place of hot food instead of 125 grams ready to eat per day. Mandatory delivery instructions are given. The distribution of ready-to-eat as per eligibility to the remaining beneficiaries will continue.
4- The time limit for renewal of license, permit, license etc. has been increased by one month in all the urban bodies of the state.
5- Instructions have been provided to keep the cases in the Revenue Courts on April 1 or after.
6- The Commercial Tax (Registration) Department has revised the rates of Chhattisgarh market price which comes into effect from April 1, to one month now to May. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the problem of congestion occurring in the month of March in the registration offices.
7 – The last date for depositing property tax in urban bodies of the state has been extended from 31st March to 30th April.
8- The Chhattisgarh government has licensed two distilleries for industrial manufacture of alcohol based hand sanitizer (hand rub solution) as part of measures to prevent corona virus (Kovid-19).
9- Decision to give special allowance to the staff of Health Department engaged in treatment of corona.
10- In view of human sentiments from the employers of all private institutions, factories, hospitals, malls, restaurants etc. of the state, workers and employees are not being laid off and ill due to corona virus (Covid-19) or due to other reasons. In addition to providing paid leave in case of need, instructions have been given to take work from their homes as and when required.
11- Ban on meter reading-billing of low pressure consumers till 31st March, one time lump sum will be given under “Electricity Scheme at Half Rate” Benefit of two months.
