Introspecting reasons of the debacle in recently held assembly polls, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) Jogi (J) reviewed the party’s performance on Sunday and issued a white paper as well.
In the review, the party conceded that it had been levelled as a ‘B’ team of Bharatiya Janata Party in assembly polls and thus anti-BJP votes went to Congress in bulk.
“Confusion was created unnecessarily that in case of hung assembly JCC (J) will support the BJP. This confusion benefitted Congress heavily and the traditional votes of the JCC (J) which wanted to overthrow BJP regime, went in favour of Congress,’’ the party summed up in its review meeting.
Another reason for not getting considerable success in assembly polls was that the party allied with BSP which is known as a party of Dalits and Scheduled Caste community (Satnamis in state). The party further said that the majority of Other Backward Class (OBC) people supported Congress as people wanted to vote out the BJP government.
The JCC (J) which was floated by the former chief minister Ajit Jogi primarily to take on Congress, won seven seats in a 90-member state assembly polls but party felt that it could had won 15-20 seats if party was not rumoured to be the B- team of the BJP.
“In case the contest had been triangular in most of seats which unfortunately didn’t happen, the party would had performed exceedingly well,’’ a party leader informed.
Notable, recently Bharatiya Janata Party also reviewed the reasons for its shock defeat and it came to a conclusion that the party cadres didn’t work dedicatedly which was the main cause of its defeat.
