In an attempt to provide relief to traffic policemen who have to stand in the sun for long periods, an AC helmet developed by students of IIM Vadodara is being tested by traffic police departments. After Vadodara Traffic Police, now Bhubaneswar Traffic Police is also using these helmets. In most parts of the country where the outside temperature reaches 40-45 degrees Celsius. These AC helmets can prove helpful in providing coolness to the traffic policemen there.

This AC helmet is battery operated. It circulates air around the head. These helmets have been distributed to about 450 traffic personnel in Vadodara. The Commissionerate Police conducted an experimental trial of AC helmet in Bhubaneswar on Monday. The helmet can cool the body temperature by about 15 degrees. After 6 hours of full charging, the helmet can work for 8 hours. The helmet also has a goggles made of hard plastic shield which protects the eyes of the policemen from sunlight.
