A woman who went to pick Mahua was crushed to death by an elephant, another seriously injured.

Dulendra Patel, Raigarh. A woman who had gone to collect Mahua in the forest was crushed to death by an elephant. The incident took place in Jhingol, a dependent village of Kelo Vananchal forest range, Tamnar Gram Panchayat Amghat. According to the information received, on Sunday morning in Cheeta Mada forest, Kalavati’s husband Sukhsingh Rathiya, aged 50 years, was going towards the forest with some women of the village to collect Mahua. Everyone was climbing towards the mountain, when suddenly an elephant was coming from the mountain towards the village. Some women ran away after seeing the elephant.

But Kalavati got trapped in the clutches of the elephant and the elephant crushed the woman to death. After crushing the woman, the elephant also captured a man 1 kilometer away. Due to this he was seriously injured and was sent to the hospital for treatment. Tamnar Police and Forest Department team reached the spot and conducted Panchnama proceedings.
