The festival of Rang Panchami is being celebrated with pomp in the Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain. Bhasma Aarti was performed in the court of Lord Mahakal in Brahma Muhurta. In this, Tesu flowers were offered to Lord Mahakal and colors were also prepared from Tesu flowers. Lord Mahakal was anointed with milk, curd and water and especially hemp. After this he was also bathed with fruit juice. In Bhasma Aarti, the priest played Holi with Baba Mahakal with flowers and saffron color prepared in the temple itself and offered Tesu flowers and saffron color to Baba Mahakal along with all the other gods and goddesses.

Preparations for Holi and Rang Panchami festival are done in Mahakaleshwar temple 15 days in advance. Devotees are also very excited about this festival which comes after the festival of Mahashivratri. Devotees from all over the country come to Ujjain to play Holi with Lord Mahakal. Once in a year such an occasion comes when the color of Holi festival can be seen between the devotee and God. This time the number of devotees increased significantly. Apart from this, the devotees felt very happy after seeing the priest playing Holi with Tesu and saffron colors along with Baba Mahakal in the temple.
