Abhanpur. The no-confidence motion brought by BJP and independent councilors against the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Municipal Council Gobra Navapara collapsed today. Additional Collector BB Panchbhai, who was appointed the presiding officer for voting on the no-confidence motion, started the proceedings in the municipality auditorium at 11 am today. After the voting, 8 votes were cast in favor of the no-confidence motion brought against Speaker Madhini and 11 votes were cast against it. Two votes were declared cancelled.

At the same time, there were 8 votes in favor of the no-confidence motion brought against the Vice President and 12 against it. One vote was declared void, whereas 14 votes were required to pass the no-confidence motion. In this way, the chair of President Madhini and Vice President Jagat was saved.

There was a wave of happiness among the Congressmen when the no-confidence motion was defeated. On this occasion, former regional MLA Dhanendra Sahu also reached the municipality, after which the Congressmen celebrated by distributing sweets and bursting fireworks outside the municipality office. Let us tell you that in the 21-member municipality, both the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman belong to the Congress Party. Whereas BJP has 8 and 2 independent councilors.
