Sports Desk. Three players from Vidarbha will be honored for their outstanding performance in domestic cricket in the last four seasons. All-rounders Harsh Dubey, Yash Rathore and Danish Malewar have been included in the list of short-listed players for the BCCI annual award. This function is going to be held in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Let us tell you that Harsh, the bowler who took the highest wicket in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy in the year 2019-20, repeated this feat in the Under-23 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy in 2021-22. Harsh took 58 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 19.24, in which he took 5 wickets 3 times. At the same time, for Vidarbha team, which was runner-up in the 2019-20 Cooch Behar Trophy, Harsh scored 512 runs at an average of 36.57 with 5 half-centuries. He continued his excellent form and became the leading wicket-taker in the CK Nayudu Trophy in 2021-22 with 45 wickets in 6 matches at an average of 18.71, which included 3 5-wicket hauls.
It is noteworthy that in the year 2021-22 season, Harsh’s teammate Yash emerged as the highest run-scorer in the CK Nayudu Trophy. Yash scored 611 runs in 10 innings at an average of 61.10, which included 3 centuries and 1 half-century. However, despite the brilliant performance of Yash and Harsh, Vidarbha had to accept defeat at the hands of Mumbai in the tournament, due to which the team ended its campaign by finishing second.
Apart from this, young Danish Malewar, one of the stars of Vidarbha’s double success in Vinoo Mankad Trophy in 2022-23 along with Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy, will also be honoured. Danish’s excellent batting helped him not only register a triple century (300 not out) against Bihar but also become the leading run-scorer with 1171 runs in 12 innings at an average of 117.10 with 4 centuries and 3 fifties. All three players of Vidarbha will be awarded MA Chidambaram Trophy for their excellent performance with bat and ball.
