Amit Pandey, Khairagarh. Governments keep coming and going and leaders make big promises and claims to woo the public. Now those hollow claims seem to be exposed. Even after independence, electricity has not reached village Katema situated at the end of Khairagarh district. Even today the villagers are forced to live in darkness. In such a situation the question arises and for how long will they have to remain in the dark. When will electricity reach the village?
Let us tell you that a village named Katema is situated at the end of Khairagarh district, on the border of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh states. Situated on the Maikal mountain range and surrounded by dense forests, the distance of this village from Khairagarh district headquarters is about 60 to 65 kilometers. Katema is a settlement of 30-35 houses, which is a dependent village of Gram Panchayat Lakshana. Till date electricity has not reached village Katema. People here still use traditional means like chimney and lantern.
Although the government has made arrangements for electricity through solar panels in the village, but due to the dense forest there is very little sunlight and it is not of any use during the rainy season. In such a situation, villagers are not able to supply electricity even after installation of solar panels.
At the same time, the villagers of Katema have to go to their Gram Panchayat Lachhna, 17 kilometers away from the village, to get the ration provided by the government. However, the government and administration have now taken positive initiative regarding this heavily Naxal affected area of Khairagarh district and a camp is being established in the village under the joint operation of ITBP and District Police. After the establishment of the camp, it will now become difficult for Naxalites to cross the interstate border and red terror will soon be eliminated from the area. This camp built at Tri Junction can also be called the millstone of anti-Naxal operation.
Katema village situated on the border of three states is the last end of Chhattisgarh, which is also considered as the MMC zone of Naxalites. In such a situation, providing basic facilities to the villagers of this village is a big challenge for the administration, in view of which a joint camp is now being set up by the District Police and ITBP. Due to which an environment of security and peace will be created in the area and development work will accelerate. Due to the establishment of security camps, Naxalites will no longer be able to expand their area of influence, due to which the villagers will be able to get the benefits of all the public friendly schemes of the government.
