Raipur. Congress gave adjournment in Chhattisgarh Assembly today on farmer suicide in Narayanpur. The opposition walked out of the House after Asandi found the adjournment notice unacceptable.
Congress MLA Lakheshwar Baghel raised the issue of farmer suicide. Ajay Chandrakar said that notice of postponement has not been given, arrangements should be made. Bhupesh Baghel said that there is a special situation. Farmer has committed suicide due to debt burden, it is an important issue. There should be discussion on this. On this, Brijmohan Aggarwal said that the House cannot run beyond the rules and procedures. Postponement has not been mentioned, so discussion is not appropriate.
Leader of Opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant said that there should be no problem in listening to the plight of the poor. The President is kind and generous, farmers or tribals can be included in it, there should be discussion. On this, Ajay Chandrakar said that on the day of discussion on the address, there was a demand for discussion contrary to the rules. Bhupesh Baghel said that suicide has taken place before the session was called, discussion is not possible later, it should be accepted and discussed.
Dharamlal Kaushik, joining the discussion, said that the discussion can be held as per the rules in the next session. On this, Bhupesh Baghel said that the rule is that whatever incident happens between one assembly session and another, it is discussed. This should be accepted. Ajay Chandrakar said that this is a topic based session. Kawasi Lakhma said that discussion is necessary to ensure that farmers do not commit suicide.
While giving the order, Asandi said that it is a valid and well-established tradition in which the members take oath. The demand for adjournment and discussion is given in advance. Adjournment attention cannot be taken at short notice. Asandi found the adjournment notice inadmissible. Along with this, the opposition walked out in protest against not holding the discussion.
