Health and Medical Education Minister Shri T.S. Singhdev has taken strict action. The Medical Education Department of the State Government has today suspended Dr. Kamlesh Prasad Vishwakarma, Senior Resident (Pediatrician) of the Department of Pediatrics in the hospital after his approval. Dr. Vishwakarma was not present during the night duty despite the admission of newborns in critical condition in the Pediatrics Department on the night of the incident, nor did he take any concrete initiative for the treatment of the admitted infants. Due to his negligence, the babies admitted in the hospital died. This act of his is a clear violation of Rule-3 of the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965. The State Government has suspended Dr. Kamlesh Prasad Vishwakarma from the Chhattisgarh Civil Service (Classification, Control and Appeal) for not promptly discharging his official duties and responsibilities. ) Rules, 1966 under Rule 9(a) stand suspended with immediate effect. During the suspension period, his headquarters office, Civil Surgeon-cum-Chief Hospital Superintendent, District Hospital Surajpur has been fixed. He will be eligible for subsistence allowance as per rules under Basic Rule 53 during the period of suspension. The Medical Education Department has also removed Dr. Lakhan Singh, superintendent of the hospital affiliated to Ambikapur Medical College.
