The Chief Minister paid tribute to the first woman Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi and the heroic Rani Lakshmibai on her birth anniversary.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel paid humble tribute to India’s first woman Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Rani Laxmi Bai, the heroine of the first Indian freedom struggle, by lighting a lamp in front of their oil painting and offering flowers on their birth anniversary here today. Recalling the multi-faceted personality of Mrs. Gandhi and her contribution to the country, the Chief Minister said that she remained engaged for the upliftment of the poor and weaker sections of the society throughout her life. He sacrificed his life to protect the unity and integrity of the country. Mrs. Gandhi’s birthday is celebrated as Quami Ekta Diwas to promote harmony and strengthen the spirit of unity in the country. Mr. Baghel said that the indomitable courage and bravery of Rani Laxmi Bai is a source of inspiration for millions of women even today. Rani Lakshmi Bai sacrificed her life for the protection and honor of her motherland. Rani Laxmibai courageously opposed the oppressive policies of the British and did not give up till the last moment of her life.
