Vasectomy fortnight is being organized from November 21 to December 4 to promote vasectomy in the state. This time this fortnight will be celebrated on the theme of “Now men will take responsibility, adopt family planning and show their participation”. Vasectomy fortnight organized in two phases In the first phase, information about vasectomy will be given and men will be motivated to adopt it, while in the second phase, free vasectomy services will be provided. The Health Department has issued circulars to all the districts giving necessary guidelines for the successful organization of Vasectomy Fortnight. All the districts have been asked to ensure their compliance. The Chief Medical and Health Officers of all the districts have been directed to send the reporting of IEC distribution and other activities in the format prescribed by the department. Dr. Tarun Kumar Tondar, Deputy Director, Family Welfare, Health Department, said that Chhattisgarh is at the first place in the country in sterilization during the Vasectomy fortnight for the last five years. During the vasectomy fortnight, in the last five years, 4905 men have undergone vasectomy for family planning. During the vasectomy fortnight, 966 men have undergone vasectomy in the year 2017-18, 727 in the year 2018-19, 1695 in the year 2019-20, 168 in the year 2020-21 and 1349 in the year 2021-22. The vasectomy fortnight starting from November 21 in the state has been divided into two phases. The first phase will be observed as mobilization from 21st November to 27th November and the second phase from 28th November to 4th December as service delivery phase. In the first phase, male health workers will organize “Mor Mitan Mor Sangwari”. During this, he will contact the men of all the targeted couples in his area and tell them the benefits of sterilization after personal discussion. Along with this, necessary counseling will be done to clear the misconceptions and myths related to vasectomy. During this, special focus will be mainly on vasectomy ie vasectomy. In the second phase of the Vasectomy fortnight, free sterilization services will be provided to men who are desirous of sterilization. Vasectomy service and its benefits will be displayed at every health center during the fortnight. The certificate will be given to the beneficiary only if the sperm count is found to be zero in the test after three months of sterilization.
