Health department started to prevent pneumonia

On the occasion of Pneumonia Day, a special campaign has been started by the health department in the MCH building of the district hospital, named as “Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully i.e. ‘SANS’” to increase public awareness about prevention of pneumonia. Is. This campaign will run till 28 February 2023. During this, the causes, symptoms and remedies of pneumonia will be promoted through various mediums and emphasis will be given on getting the children pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV). Pneumonia is a serious respiratory disease that mostly affects children. In which there is an infection in the lungs. Due to pneumonia infection, there is swelling in the lungs and sometimes water is also filled. Pneumonia is caused by a number of infectious vectors including viruses, bacteria and fungi. On the other hand, if treatment is started at the initial time of infection or vaccination is done on time, then this disease can be controlled. Every year November 12 is celebrated as World Pneumonia Day to disseminate important information related to prevention of pneumonia. In this series, MLA Durg Arun Vora was the chief guest of the World Pneumonia Day program organized under the instructions of District Collector Durg Pushpendra Meena and under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer (CMHO) Dr. JP Meshram. Whereas Mayor Dheeraj Bakliwal presided over it. On the occasion of Pneumonia Day, information was given on prevention of pneumonia in children from zero to 5 years (through strong nutritional hygiene), medical consultation for early detection and treatment of pneumonia. In which Civil Surgeon Dr. YK Sharma, District Immunization Officer and Pediatrician Dr. Divya Srivastava, Pediatrician Dr. Rajneesh Malhotra, Pediatrician Dr. Seema Jain, Pediatrician, Dr. Hemant Sahu and Pediatrician Dr. Sameet Prasad Raj served. In this regard, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. JP Meshram said, “Pneumonia is an infectious disease. Cold weather can increase the severity of pneumonia infection, so special care is necessary for babies. Pneumonia infection usually affects children between two and five years of age, but people with weak immunity and the elderly can also suffer from it. Pneumonia in children can be prevented by vaccination. Children have to be vaccinated with pneumococcal conjugate vaccine ie PCV at 6 weeks, 14 weeks and 9th month. This vaccine is also included in the routine immunization schedule. Along with this, the facility of necessary vaccination is available free of cost from the primary health center to the district hospitals. The PCV vaccine is very effective in protecting children from pneumonia. That’s why the child must be vaccinated on time.” Further, he said: “Under the Social Awareness and Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully i.e. ‘SANS’ campaign, which is being run till the next 28th February, the health department team will conduct door-to-door visits in all the areas of the district. Information will be given on the necessary measures to prevent pneumonia and the importance of PCV vaccination.
