Re-examine the forest rights applications and submit by 17:

Under the Forest Rights Act 2006, individual forest rights applications will be re-examined and presented before the district level committee by October 17. The instructions of the said collector, Mr. P.S. Elma gave during the committee meeting today. In this regard, in the context of the Supreme Court’s petition, following the instructions of Chief Secretary Chhattisgarh Government Shri Amitabh Jain, he said while deciding on the individual applications of forest rights canceled. In this regard, in the video conferencing held on Wednesday, October 12, instructions were given to review and re-examine the individual forest rights cases canceled by the Chief Secretary. The Collector said that after re-examination of the canceled applications in this context, all the sub-divisional officers mentioning the reasons should be submitted by October 17. During this, Assistant Commissioner Tribal Development Dr. Reshma Khan informed that total 1439 applications have been rejected, including 694 in Dhamtari block, 607 in Magarlod and 138 in Nagari block due to lack of evidence of three generations. The Collector, after studying the various sections of the Forest Rights Act seriously, reviewed all the canceled applications and directed the officers to submit them by the stipulated date.
