The exhibition-cum-sale of ten-day “Deepawali Mahotsav” of handicrafts and handloom fabrics was inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board in a simple ceremony at Haat Complex, Pandri today. The ten-day “Deepawali Mahotsav” is being organized from October 12 to 21. This festival season, this exhibition is attracting the people of the capital. More than 75 stalls and a food zone have also been set up here, where people are also enjoying Chhattisgarhi cuisine. Ms. Navya Verma, a resident of Kachana, who came to the exhibition, told that she has come here for the first time. This is a happy occasion. There is a unique collection of different types of handicrafts and handloom fabrics. Similarly, Mr. Dilip Rathi, a resident of Balod district, told that his coming here has been a coincidence. The famous crafts, handloom textiles and furnishings are available for purchase during this festive season. The main objective of this exhibition is to provide better market for handicraftsmen and weavers. Shri Shankarlal Dhurve, General Manager, Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board informed that today “Deepawali Mahotsav” was inaugurated in a simple ceremony. Handicraftsmen are getting better response in this ten-day “Deepawali Festival”. From the very first day of the launch, people are shopping fiercely. In this exhibition-cum-sale, the famous handicrafts of Chhattisgarh are Dhokra Crafts, Iron Crafts, Wood Crafts, Bamboo Crafts, Carpet Crafts, Shisal Crafts, Tattoo Crafts, Tuma Crafts, Terracotta Crafts and 35 Craftsmen from Bronze and Kosa Sarees in Handloom Fabrics. 25 Weavers’ societies have set up their stalls with various types of readymade garments, dupatta, salwar suits, dress material, bedsheets. Similarly, 10 Matikala craftsmen, 2 of Khadi board and 1 of Bilasa beneficiaries are displaying-cum-selling their art along with their products, with various decorative items of Mati craft, useful materials. In the ten-day handicrafts and handloom exhibition, home-useful and decoration materials will be available to the customers at reasonable prices as per their choice.
