FGR Portal started as pilot project in Chhattisgarh :: Will help farmers in resolving crop insurance related complaints

Farmer Grievance Redressal Portal (FGR) prepared by the Government of India for online hearing and redressal of farmers’ complaints regarding Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana and weather-based crop insurance, Chhattisgarh from today as a pilot project from July 21. launched in the state. After evaluation and utility of this portal in redressal of complaints, it will be implemented in all the states of the country. With the launch of this portal, farmers will no longer need to visit any office or official, nor will they have to apply in writing, for redressal of complaints related to crop insurance. Farmers can register their complaints by calling Bhai toll-free number 14447, which will be resolved promptly. Farmers will also be able to get information about the resolution of their complaints through the portal. It is worth mentioning that Shri Ritesh Chauhan, Joint Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana, Government of India, Chief Executive Officer C.S.C. Dr. Dinesh Kumar Tyagi while launching the beta version of FGR Portal in Chhattisgarh through video conferencing today said that it is being launched first in the country as a pilot project in the state of Chhattisgarh. The state of Chhattisgarh has been selected as the pilot project of this portal in view of the remarkable achievements in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the state. Chhattisgarh state is one of the leading states in the country in the implementation of crop insurance. Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country, which has paid the crop insurance claim amount for the Rabi season 2022 to its farmers first in the country. Agriculture Production Commissioner Chhattisgarh Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Director Agriculture Shri Yashwant Kumar, Joint Secretary Shri K.C. Paikra, Additional Director Engineering Shri G.K. Pidiha, Additional Director Horticulture Shri Bhupendra Kumar Pandey, Joint Director Agriculture Shri B.K. Mishra and district level officers and representatives of the insurance company also joined through video conferencing. To register a complaint related to crop insurance in the Farmer Grievance Redressal (FGR) portal, a farmer will have to call 14447 toll-free number. After the call, the information related to the complaint from the farmer will be taken by the call center. After this, the details of the complaint will be sent to the concerned insurance company and directed to resolve it within the prescribed time limit. With the operation of the Farmer Grievance Redressal Portal, farmers will no longer have to visit offices and officials for complaints related to crop insurance, nor will they need to apply in writing. He will be able to register his complaint by calling the toll-free number 14447. After registering the complaint, a message to register the complaint will come on the mobile number of the farmer along with the complaint number, through which the actual status of the complaint can be tracked online on the complaint portal. It is worth mentioning here that Chhattisgarh has topped the country in payment of crop insurance claim amount. In the year 2021-22, insurance claim amount of Rs 1063 crore was paid to 05 lakh 66 thousand farmer brothers. The Agriculture Department has appealed to the farmers of the state to get insurance to take advantage of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Weather Based Horticulture Crop Insurance Scheme.
