Due to modern lifestyle and irregular routine and eating habits, a large population is suffering from lifestyle diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer. Surprisingly, now this disease is taking its grip on adolescents and youth as well. Genetic and dietary habits and irregular routine are mainly responsible for these lifestyle diseases. Generally, the consumption of fatty food, fast food, non-vegetarian, alcohol and smoking is increasing among the people, which are mostly teens and young people too. Apart from this, excessive use of pesticides in crops, pollution and lack of physical labor or exercise, obesity is also increasing the number of patients of these diseases. Prevention can be done only with a balanced routine and a balanced diet. Today’s generation is constantly negligent towards food and routine, as a result people are falling prey to high blood pressure, diabetes and heart diseases at an early age. Obesity is also the major cause of these diseases among youth, which is increasing due to junk food, packaged foods, cold drinks, alcohol and non-vegetarian food. Teenagers and youth are constantly in the grip of electronic gadgets, as a result they stay up late at night, which also affects their mental health. Research has shown that mental health is directly related to these lifestyle diseases. For the treatment of these diseases, lifelong medicines and stay under doctor’s advice and adopting controlled diet and restrained routine are required. It is generally seen that patients of high blood pressure, diabetes and heart diseases stop the medicines without consulting the doctor, as a result they have to face emergency situations. Sometimes this carelessness proves fatal. People need to be aware that the above diseases are not eradicated from the root, but are controlled by medicines, balanced diet and regular exercise and yoga, so take precautions. Sanjay Shukla said that since these diseases are related to psycho-somatic ie physical and mental health, therefore Ayurveda and yoga are effective in the prevention of these diseases. In this method, diet and routine are prescribed for different seasons, adopting which it is possible to avoid lifestyle diseases through Panchakarma, Rasayana therapy, Achar Rasayana, regular exercise, yoga and meditation. Vegetarian food to prevent diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases, which includes mixed grain roti, tur or moong dal, kodo or brown rice, bitter gourd, drumstick, taroi, green vegetables, curry leaves, ginger, fenugreek, garlic, Gunmar, Jamun, Amla etc. should be consumed and it is necessary to avoid fatty foods, junk food, cold drinks, non-vegetarian, alcoholism and smoking. Apart from this, sugar and salt should be used in balanced quantity.
