The Kantha work saris of Bastar in Chhattisgarh Haat at Pandri, capital Raipur, the attractive fabric craftsmanship in the Vardhman district of Bengal and the iron, bronze crafts made by tribal craftsmen are attracting people. Chhattisgarh Khadi and Village Industries has set up 50 stalls of handicrafts products from different states including Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Bengal, Odisha in the ten-day state level handicrafts exhibition here. Chhattisgarhi cuisine can also be enjoyed along with a variety of products including forest products, forest products of Chhattisgarh. The exhibition will run till March 31. Sarees of Kantha Work- Saree made by Kantha Work of Bastar Art is the center of special attraction. Maitri Boss of Mana Handicraft Center said that it takes about 3 to 4 months to make a kantha work saree of Bastar Art. In this, a total of 24 themes like Bastar’s traditional trees, plants, animals are carved in the saree through small needle and thread. The cost of a saree ranges from 7000 to 15000 rupees. Maitri, the manager of Hand Crafts Institute, said that she has given training to more than 300 artisans till now. They are getting employment by producing such sarees at the local level. Artifacts of iron crafts – Shri Sagar Vishwakarma, an artisan of Kidaichhapeda village in Kondagaon, says that by him the iron strips are given the form of different parts of the artefacts. . By which the artwork of folk dancers, bugle and other tribal instruments are made. Due to which the beautiful look of the paint is provided, it has a good demand in the market. Bamboo sofas – In the exhibition, along with decorative items made of bamboo, sofas used in homes have also been kept for sale. These items are made by the local artisans of Gariaband. Bamboo sofas, tables as well as other useful items for decoration in homes are also being sold in the stall. Brass Metal Artifacts- Sculptures made by Bell Metal craftsmen of Raigad district, decorative items, daily use items like light lamps, jewelery etc. are being sold in the exhibition. Manoj Kumar, a bell metal craftsman of Sarangarh, said that there is a special demand in the cities for decorative items made from bell metal made from brass metal by local artists. He told that more than 400 skilled artisans are associated with this work in his area. Wax and Google incense are also used in the manufacture of bell metal ornaments. He said that people like the items made from Bell Metal in other states including the capital Delhi, this is giving encouragement to the artisans. Sanitary Napkin – The work being done by Jeevan Welfare Foundation to manufacture sanitary napkins is inspiring for the public. Mrs. Asmita, a representative of this foundation, tells that 600 to 700 women are associated in her organization, who go to different locality villages and make them aware of sanitary napkins. Sanitary napkins are made by these women, which are cheaper than the sanitary napkins made by other private companies in the market. It is made of cotton which is beneficial for women’s health. He told that we are saving women from many diseases by making them aware about sanitary napkins and the women of these groups are also getting good income. Various types of apparel- Kurtas, shirts and other apparels made of Khadi are available in the exhibition set up in Pandri Haat. Khadi and Village Industries Board official Mr. Dadsena said that it is available to the people at very low rates. Khadi clothes provide coolness in summer. At the same time, in the stalls of Sanjeevani and Udan Mahila Krishak Producer Company Limited Kondagaon of Forest Department in the exhibition, pickles and other materials made from forest products like Mahua, Trikhur, Amla are available.
