Under the aegis of All India Tennis Association, the Gondwana Cup All India Men’s Tennis Competition (2.5 Lakh) is being organized by the Chhattisgarh Tennis Association from 22nd to 26th February at Union Club, Chhattisgarh Club, whose qualification round is signed today. The oldest and most prestigious tennis competition in Central India began in 1937 at the pre-independence Union club, with eminent tennis players of the time being champions in FX Santiago, Riyazul Latif and Kishore Pithaliya (Junior). At present, Abhijeet Tiwari has also been the winner of this prestigious competition.
The qualifying rounds of the Gondwana Cup will be played in the three main clubs of the city – Union Club, Chhattisgarh Club, and IP Club. At the same time, the main draws will be played at Camches Union Club and Chhattisgarh Club. The director of this tournament is Gurcharan Singh Hora, general secretary of the association.
