Women and Child Development Department Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia took review meeting of departmental officers in the collectorate’s meeting today. Minister Smt. Anila Bhendia said that the Chief Minister’s Nutrition Campaign is an important and result-oriented campaign for malnourished children. Better implementation of this campaign will reduce the level of malnutrition. He said that departmental officers should regularly do field visits and do practical reporting. So that the state government’s goal of eliminating malnutrition in three years can be met. Mrs. Bhendia elaborated on the situation of malnutrition in Gariaband district and the efforts being made to eradicate it, supplementary nutritious food, recruitment of Anganwadi workers and assistants, status of departmental buildings, women safety scheme, child protection scheme and problems of the department After deliberating, the necessary officers were given necessary directions. On this occasion, Secretary of the department Mrs. Shehla Nigar, Director Mrs. Divya Umesh Mishra, Collector Mr. Nileshkumar Kshirsagar, Superintendent of Police Mr. Bhojram Patel, District Panchayat CEO Mr. Chandrakant Verma and departmental officers were present.
Minister Mrs. Wolf said that eliminating malnutrition is one of the priorities of the government. We have to work keeping in mind the safety and health of children and women. Their superior health and safety is paramount. He directed the departmental officers to promote the department’s schemes more and more. Instructions have been given for fresh applications for ready to eat. Smt. Bhendia said that to fulfill the objectives of the department, work with team spirit and enthusiasm and instructions were given to prepare and send proposals for severely malnourished children in the district.
Secretary Mrs. Nigar instructed the departmental officers to work in coordination with the district administration. He said that work should be done keeping in mind the health, nutrition and safety of children and women. He asked to re-analyze the data related to malnutrition and collect information. Mrs. Nigar appreciated the work of supplementary nutritious food and nutrition garden in the district. Collector Shri Nileshkumar Kshirsagar informed that continuous monitoring is being done to make the district malnutrition free. Arrangements have been made to look after the severely malnourished children in nutritional rehabilitation centers. He informed that process is underway to open the office of the department and the office of the district child protection unit. He said that the remaining 38 buildings of Anganwadi will be approved soon. District Program Officer Smt. Jagrani Ekka said that according to the statistics of the weight festival under the Chief Minister’s Nutrition Campaign, 15.81 percent children are still malnourished in the district. In the last two years, 3 thousand 194 children have become free from moderate malnutrition and 2 thousand 747 children from severe malnutrition. 28 thousand 671 children and 5 thousand 767 pregnant women were benefited under the Supplementary Nutrition Program in the district. Under the nutrition garden, 2 thousand 920 munga plants have been planted in Anganwadi centers. He gave the departmental information through a powerpoint presentation.
