There were continuous complaints of illegal sand quarrying in the Kurud region. At the same time, the head of the state had given strict instructions on illegal excavation and storage. Villagers of Nari area had written a written complaint to JP Maurya, Collector of the district a few days ago. There were complaints of sand quarrying over a fixed area in Nari’s sand quarry, quarrying in excess of the prescribed depth, excavation from the chain mountain machine against NGT’s guide line and many other complaints. Based on the complaint, Patwari conducted a site inspection on Saturday afternoon, in which sand excavation over 15 acres and excavation at a depth of 10:50 cubic meters was found. The team comprising the Mineral Department and the Kurud Police have seized the vehicles transporting illegal sand and placed it in Kurud Mandi. In this regard, police station in-charge Ramnaresh Sengar said that a team consisting of Mineral Department and Kurud Police Staff were illegally transporting sand from Nari Sand mine, a Hiva vehicle, which was seized on the spot. The chain mountain machine used in illegal sand quarrying was seized and sealed in the mine. On the complaint of woman villagers Chandrashekhar getting a beating from a woman villager, a crime is registered against 2 persons and the matter is being investigated.
