The Agriculture and Biotechnology Department of the state government had fixed the last date for restructured weather-based crop insurance in horticulture crops till December 15. The deadline is over, but most of the farmers have not been able to submit the form due to being busy in the paddy procurement process. Due to this, the farmers have demanded from the government to extend the date of the required signature form for the Rabi crop, so that the farmers who are involved in insurance get the necessary documents. The government has listened to their demand.
To protect the farmers cultivating horticulture crops from the adverse weather like low and high temperatures, disease friendly weather, pest diseases, low or high rainfall conditions, hailstorm and cyclonic winds etc. The crop insurance scheme Rabi 2020-21 is implemented. Approval forms have been sought from farmers who are not covered by insurance.
