The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended the deadline to apply for the unemployment allowance claim (deadline) to employees who lost jobs in the Corona era. Employees registered with ESIC who have lost jobs since March 24, 2020, are entitled to three months’ 50% salary under the Atal Insured Persons Welfare Scheme (ABVKY). Such employees will now be able to apply for unemployment allowance by 30 June 2021.

The central government has introduced the scheme to provide relief to registered employees from ESIC who lost jobs during the corona lockdown. Employees who have been relocated after being removed from the job can also avail the benefit of this scheme. Seeing that this scheme does not get good response, ESIC has decided to increase the deadline to apply for it. Under this, employees who lost jobs between 24 March to 31 December 2020 will be able to apply.
