Raipur : Half of the Population has more than 50 percent participation in MNREGA : This year, nearly 24.28 lakh women got employment till date, employment of 4.66 crore human days provided to women

Participation of women in MNREGA is 50.75%, which is the maximum in last four years

In Chhattisgarh, participation of ‘half of the population’ i.e. the participation of women in MNREGA works is more than 50%. In the first four months of current fiscal year 2020-21,  nearly 24 lakh 28 thousand 234 women got employment under the scheme. Meanwhile, employment of total nine crore 17 lakh 87 thousand human days was generated, out of which women got the employment of four crore 65 lakh 85 thousand human days. This year, participation of women in MNREGA works is nearly 50.75% till, which is the maximum in last four years. And in the remaining four months of this fiscal year, the percentage is likely to improve further. 


This year in Chhattisgarh, total 48 lakh 14 thousand 330 labourers have been provided employment under MNREGA works. This includes 24 lakh 28 thousand 234 woman labourers. Participation of women in MNREGA works is continually increasing. In year 2016-17, percentage of women participation was 49.31%, in year 2017-18 it was 49.31 and in year 2018-19 it was 50.05%. And in the current fiscal year, percentage of women participation in MNREGA works so far is 50.75%. Maximum participation of women has already been achieved in the first four months of this year. 

In Chhattisgarh state, Durg district ranks first in terms of providing maximum employment to women. In Durg, participation of women in MNREGA works has been 64%. Likewise, percentage of women participation in Balod has been 62%, Rajnandgaon 59%, Raipur 54%, Bastar 52% while in Bilaspur, Dhamtari, Kondagaon and Narayanpur it is 51% each. As per MNREGA provisions, at least one-third of the employment generated under scheme should be compulsorily provided to women. Provisions have also been made to increase the participation of disable and destitute women.
