A crucial meeting of Tribal Wing of State unit of Congress patty was held here at State party headquarters Rajiv Bhawan on Wednesday under chairmanship of party’s State Tribal Wing President Amarjeet Bhagat.
The meeting discussed preparations for visit of AICC President Rahul Gandhi on January 28 and assigned tasks to members for preparations of his tour. The Tribal Congress Wing leaders also thanked the State government for making double the remuneration for Tendu leaves collection and for returning the land of tribal farmers in Lohandiguda of Bastar region which were acquired by erstwhile government for establishment of Tata Steel Plant. These tribal-friendly decisions were taken by the government without any delay right after formation of the government, they said. The tribals in the State supported Congress and ascertained party’s victory in 28 tribal reserve assembly seats and the government had rewarded them for that, they added. Enthused with these decisions tribals in large numbers will participate in the public rally of Rahul Gandhi scheduled on January 28 in Bastar, they said.
The meeting also welcomed party’s step to induct Priyanka Gandhi as a National General Secretary of the organization.
