Special Central Assistance Scheme meeting held through video conferencing

Regarding Special Central Assistance, Additional Secretary (LWE), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India during video conferencing with the Home Departments of the four states-Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra and Telangana State and the District Collectors of their total 18 severely Naxal-affected districts. A review meeting was conducted through On behalf of Chhattisgarh state, Shri RK Vij (Director General of Special Police), Shri Ashok Juneja (Director General of Special Police), Shri Umesh Agrawal, Secretary-Home Department and concerned District-Collector/Deputy Collector attended the meeting. In this video conferencing, the financial assistance given by the Central Government for the infrastructure development work and basic needs in the highly naxal affected aspirational districts was discussed.
In view of the need of funds for more infrastructure development work and basic needs in the aspirational districts of the state, it was requested to continue the Special Central Assistance Scheme continuously. On which the Additional Secretary (LWE) Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India appreciated the work done under this scheme and discussed with regard to the demands of Chhattisgarh, to continue the Special Central Assistance Scheme or any other scheme as severely Naxal affected. Assistance was given to the districts.
The Special Central Assistance Scheme for severely naxal affected districts is the new central sectoral scheme of the Government of India, which was implemented for a total of (03) years from the year 2017-18 to 2019-20. The state of Chhattisgarh is suffering from the problem of Left Wing Extremism. 14 districts of the state are Naxal-affected SRE districts, out of which eight districts are extremely Naxal-affected areas. These eight districts are Rajnandgaon, Bijapur, Bastar, Dantewada, Kanker, Narayanpur, Sukma and Kondagaon. 33.33 crore per district has been provided to these eight districts and in the year 2020-21, central assistance of Rs.14.25 crore has been provided per district. The amount given earlier is used for strengthening public infrastructure and basic public facilities like roads, culverts, health-nutrition, agriculture, education, electricity, drinking water supply, school building, community building, public awareness, employment training and police resources. enhancement etc. have been done in the works. Due to which the public life of these aspirational districts has improved and public security has increased.
