To make life happy and healthy, sleeping and waking at regular times, refreshing sleep and happy mornings are essentially the first steps towards a healthy life. According to Ayurveda, going to bed before 10 in the night and waking up at the Brahma Muhurta (before sunrise) is very important for good digestion, mental health, physical strength and better time management. When the previous food is not digested, our body then signals but still we continue to put more food burden on our digestive system which not only makes digestion sluggish but also leads to accumulation of toxins. Eat food only when you feel hungry or if you satisfy yourself with mild alternatives, such as raw coconut water or a few pieces of cucumber. Whenever you are thirsty, no matter how busy you are, do not postpone your intake of water.
Another major mistake we make is to ignore or postpone natural urges such as emptying of our intestines or bladder, or to put unnecessary pressure on the physical institution when there is no natural urge. Do you know that Vata dosha is main in the body before sunrise? Apna Vayu, which moves in a downward direction and is responsible for the elimination of waste and toxins from the body, remains active in the period before the day passes. So we all feel a natural urge to empty the intestines and bladder during that time. They are clearly mentioned in Ayurveda, but due to the busyness in the present times, human life has become disturbed.
