National Award for Mr. Saurabh Janghel, Young Farmer of Mushroom Growing in Chhattisgarh

Mr. Saurabh Janghel, a young farmer of village Junglepur in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, has been awarded for outstanding work in the field of production, processing and marketing of oyster mushrooms. Mr. Janghel has been conferred this National Award at the Virtual Mushroom Fair organized by Solan Himachal Pradesh, Directorate of Mushroom Research of Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Young oyster mushroom growing farmer Mr. Saurabh Janghel after receiving training from Mushroom Research Laboratory of Agricultural College, Raipur and Dr. CS Shukla, Mr. H.K. Singh, Dr. Narendra Lakpale, Dr. A.S. Kotsthane and Dr. M.P. For the last three years, under the able guidance of Thakur, mushroom production and marketing are working.

    Trained farmers from Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya Raipur, Mr. Janghel are providing seeds to the farmers of the district by obtaining pure cultivars from mushroom research laboratory and preparing mushroom spans (seeds). After the production and marketing of mushrooms, the work of making earthworm manure and organic manure from the residual residue is also being done by them. Shri Saurabh Janghel is also becoming inspirational for other youth of Chhattisgarh and through them other women self-help groups have also started mushroom production and marketing.
