Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel today inaugurated ‘Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi’- newly-constituted 28th district óf Chhattisgarh. This has met the long-pending demand of a new district in the state. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Baghel had made an announcement of forming ‘Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi’district in the state, at state-level ceremony of Independence Day on August 15, 2019.
On the occasion, Chief Minister inaugurated the Collector and Superintendent of Police Office in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district. Mr. Baghel also inaugurated the newly-built hostel with 500-seat capacity constructed by Tribal Caste Welfare Department in Gaurela at the cost of Rs 14 crore 97 lakh. Mr. Baghel also did bhumi-pujan of two high-level bridges en route Gaurela-Kevanchi at the cost of Rs 3 crore 48 thousand. This newly-constituted district includes three tehsil and three development blocks – Gaurela, Pendra and Marwahi, which includes 166 Gram Panchayats, 222 villages and two nagar panchayats – Gaurela and Pendra. Total area of this district is 1 lakh 68 thousand 225 hectares, which includes irrigated area of 6290 hectare and un-irrigated area of 64 thousand 352 hectare. This district consists of 200 villages of Marwahi Vidhan Sabha constitutency and 25 villages of Kota Vidhan Sabha constituency, 200 villages of Korba Lok Sabha constituency and 25 villages of Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency.
On the occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Charan Das Mahant, Home Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu, Revenue Minister Mr. Jaisingh Agrawal, Leader of Opposition of Vidhan Sabha Mr. Dharamlal Kaushik, Ex-Chief Minister Mr. Ajit Jogi, MLA Mrs. Renu Jogi and a large number of common people were present.
