Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that State Government’s priority is to strengthen rural economy and to empower women. Effective implementation of public welfare schemes in Bastar has enhanced people’s confidence in government. Number of naxal-violence incidents in Bastar has decreased. Chief Minister was addressing the foundation day programme of ‘Dainik Nav Pradesh’ organized at a private hotel in capital city Raipur today. Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant presided over the prgramme. MLA Mr. Satyanarayan Sharma, Mayor of Raipur Municipal Corporation Mr. Ejaz Dhebar and keynote speaker of seminar on ‘Chhattisgarh prospering with Rural Economy’ and Groupe Senior Editorial Advisor of National Herald Mrs. Mrinal Pandey were present as special guests of the programme. Chief Minister congratulated the Editor of Dainik Nav Pradesh Mr. Yashwant Dhote and other members of Nav Pradesh family on the occasion.

Chief Minister said that under Narva, Garva, Ghurva and Bari Yojana, cowsheds are being managed by rural women. He said that women self-groups have been entrusted with the responsibility to implement of midday meal programme in schools, supplementary nutrition programme in aanganbadis. Giving example of Dantewada, he said that goods worth nearly Rs 3 crores are procured every month for midday meal programmes, supplementary nurtritious food distribution programme, security forces in camps. State Government has involved women self-help groups in aforementioned works too. This has created employment opportunities for women.

Chief Minister said that an extensive programme will be launched from February 8 for reducing the percentage of BPL families in Dantewada district below national average of 22 %. He said that 40% of the population in Chhattisgarh state is below poverty line. In remote districts such as Dantewada, poverty rate is around 50 to 60%. He said that Suposhit Chhattisgarh Abhiyan has been launched and is being implemented across the state. Mr. Baghel mentioned about implementation of Haat-Bazaar Clinic Yojana, Malaria Mukt Bastar Abhiyan and various efforts being made for improving education quality, creating employment opportunities, that have yielded promising results and have enhanced people’s faith in state government. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant also addressed the programme. Mrs. Mrinal Pandey lauded State Government’s Suraaji Gaon Yojana saying that State Government is realizing the vision of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi to strengthen and empower rural economy. She shared her views on women empowerment and media in national perspective.
