Ahead of rural polls, CM sop for labourers of unorganised sector

Welcoming New Year, Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel announced a new scheme for the labourers. Now, the ‘registered labourers of construction and unorganised sector’ will be provided financial assistance of Rs50,000 in case they suffer disabilities during work. And in case of death at work, their families will be entitled to Rs one lakh.
In rural areas of the state, this scheme will be implemented after the duration of model code of conduct is over.
The chief minister made the announcement, while celebrating the first day of the year with the labourers of a Chawdi near Raipur’s City Kotwali area .

On this occasion, MLA Mohan Markam along with other public representatives, labour commissioner Subodh Singh and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
Baghel also paid floral tributes to statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Maidan and distributed sweets and blankets to the labourers of Chawdi.
Under Chhattisgarh building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board of Labour Department, Mukhyamantri Vishwakarma Nirman Shramik Mrityu Evam Divyang Sahayta Yojana will be launched for registered labourers of construction sector.
Similarly, for the unorganized sectors’ labourers who are registered under Chhattisgarh Unorganised Labourer Social Security Board, Mukhyamantri Asangathit Karmkaar Mrityu Evam Divyang Sahayta Yojana will be launched. The schemes will cover construction, and unorganized workers between age group of 18 to 60 will. Benefits of the scheme will not be applicable in case of death of labourer due to substance abuse or suicide.
Meanwhile, chief minister also had courtesy meet with cabinet ministers and MLAs at his residence here on Wednesday. Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhediya, School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Bastar MP Deepak Baij, Rajya Sabha MP Chhaya Verma, Raipur West MLA Vikas Upadhyay, and Jagdalpur MLA Rekhchand Jain met chief minister and greeted him on the occasion of new year.
Besides, various people’s representatives, delegates, citizens, and villagers from many districts of the state met the chief minister and greeted him on the occasion of New Year. Baghel extended his hearty greetings to people of the state saying that may this new year bring peace, prosperity, and joy in lives of everyone. Baghel said that together we would make our ancestors’ dreams of Healthy, Prosperous and Happy Chhattisgarh come true.
