Five pilgrims killed in Jhansi

Five pilgrims were killed and six other seriously injured when a speeding truck collided with a tractor-trolley on Shivpuri road in Sipri Bazar area of Jhansi early Monday morning. The deceased were identified as Karan Singh Yadav (45), Hari Singh Yadav (40), Parmanand Kushwaha (60) of Pajanpura (Madhya Pradesh), Meva Vanshkar (50) of Sesa Poonch and Gayadeen Vanshkar (60) of Asati (Madhya Pradesh).

The ill-fated pilgrims were on their way to visit Ratangarh Mata temple when they met with the accident. Nearly, 20 people were on board the trolley when it collided with the truck after which the trolley turned turtle. A grand fair is organised at the temple every Monday which is attended by pilgrims from far and near. Meanwhile, in Ghazipur, two persons were killed in separate incidents in the city in the last 24 hours. Nanki Devi (71) and Kawaldhari Ram (46) were killed in Saidpur and Nandganj areas respectively on Sunday. While Nanki was hit by an SUV while crossing the road, Ram was hit by a tractor.
