Mumbai. Special PMLA court in Mumbai has issued summons to liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who ran away from India under the felony criminal ordinance. The court ordered its order liquor businessman Mallya to appear before the court on 27th August. According to an official involved in the case, a special PMLA court has summoned Vijay Mallya on 27th August under the felony criminal ordinance.

Earlier, the special PMLA court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Vijay Mallya on June 21 for the arrest of Vijay Mallya. The Court has recently taken this order while taking cognizance of chargesheet filed by Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The Enforcement Directorate filed a new charge sheet against Mallya, his companies Kingfisher Airline and United Breweries Holding Limited (UBHL), among others, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Taking cognizance of the charge sheet, the court had issued an order for arrest against Mallya on June 21.

Chargesheet filed by the Directorate has been accused of fraudulently charging Rs 6,000 crore with money laundering and a group of 13 banks against Mallya. Lawyers of the ED in the court had petitioned to take cognizance of the new chargesheet filed against Court Mallya. Also, the ED had told the court that Vijay Mallya is not presenting for investigation even after several summons. In such a case, arrest warrants should be issued against him.
